10 Strangest Celebrity Cameos In Video Games

Coleman As the game industry has gotten larger, and in some ways more desperate, it's easy to see why marketers have gone to such lengths to attract the eye of the average consumer. While using celebrities as voice talent has become a standard practice, it's worth noting that famous people haven't always been used in such a practical fashion. In fact, for as long as graphical capabilities have allowed us to create sprites actually resembling humans, game makers have found ways to inject celebrities into their works, no matter how out of place they may be.

10. The Rock In Spy Hunter: Nowhere To Run

spyhunter Nowhere to Run was the third game in a rather lukewarm reboot for the Spy Hunter franchise. The Rock was actually pretty hands-on in terms of his contributions to the game, doing voice work and motion capture in what was to be a tie-in game to the Spy Hunter movie. It's worth pointing out that before he became known for his family friendly yet still hilarious role as the Tooth Fairy, there was a time when movie producers thought it would be a good idea to cast the 300 pound pro wrestler as some sort of action star. Silly idea, but run with me here. What makes the Spy Hunter cameo so odd is that it's a movie licensed game for a movie that never actually came out. This would be the marketing equivalent of making a down payment on a boat before you buy your Keno ticket. Even more upsetting is that while you indeed can deliver a body slam or two between generic shooting sequences, the Rock€™s contributions don€™t ever lead to any truly wacky wrestling-related Smackdown, sadly misleading consumers into thinking that they could buy a game that involved doing the People's Elbow onto cars. You know, spy cars.
