10 Things Assassin's Creed Must Learn From Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain

This old dog always had all the best tricks to teach anyway.

Turns out the revolution wasn't going to be televised after all, instead it'll be brought to you by intrepid plot-spinning Japanese-genius Hideo Kojima; the man who 28 years ago birthed the stealth genre (pretty much by accident), before going on to innovate and flesh out every aspect into one of the most lucrative and well-known franchises of all time. On the other hand, you've got Assassin's Creed; Ubisoft's once-phenomenal series that gave us all one of the best premises in gaming history - only to stumble, trip and faceplant the floor at various occasions across the last few years. Now, in the run-up to AC: Syndicate (the ninth in the canon, discounting spin-offs but including AC: Rogue) it feels like there's a bit of a paradigm shift in terms of peoples' expectations. There are those fans that still want to love what Assassin's Creed could - and should - be, snapping up each yearly release just to support something they grew up with, hoping in vein they'll be truly great once again. For the rest of us though, the ever-increasing majority who thought they'd give Unity a stab despite it looking to play exactly the same, we found it was far more buggy and unfinished product than we could ever have imagined. So, if Ubisoft are going to continue beyond 2015 with a franchise that's already pulling the lid closed on itself, how about they take influence from one of the godfathers of stealth, and what's easily one of the greatest games of the generation so far?
