10 Things Uncharted 4’s Beta Revealed About The Full Game

Plot teases, better shooting and a fix fans have been demanding for years.

Thankfully, after months of delays, speculation and varying amounts of hype, fans got their hands on the final build of Uncharted 4 this past weekend, and man, is it shaping up nicely indeed. Naughty Dog aren't one not to knock it clear out the park (seriously, have they had a single bad game?), but thankfully, although the Uncharted series has already accrued quite the gaming pedigree, they've amended the tiniest of fixes and implemented changes you didn't even know you wanted, providing the best-playing Uncharted yet. Although it's true Naughty Dog's development cycle was fraught with personnel changes, setbacks and at one point, an entire script rewrite by The Last of Us guys, Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, what's emerged is a very promising package in all respects. And that's a damn good thing, because it recently got yet another delay, setting it back into a May 10th release. Now that the beta's over and all we've got between now and then are reactions, analysis and trailers, how about we pick apart the beta and see what that proves is coming in Uncharted 4?

10. Cutter Is (Probably) In The Story After All

Both Chloe Fraser and Cutter became firm fan favourites across Uncharted's 2 and 3, which was why it was a tad strange that we've not seen much of them in any of the trailers released so far. Instead, Naughty Dog appear to really be hammering home the relationship and dynamic between Nate and brother Sam. In the beta, many characters both alive and dead from across all three previous games are playable, including Harry Flynn, Marlow, Lazarevic and of course, Cutter himself. Now, whilst you could just chalk this up to a player skin or slice of fan service, if you head into the menu for each character's unlockable items, you'll notice Drake, Sully and Sam's alternate costumes are tuxedos, referencing a mission in the main game where they infiltrate a mansion or fancy meeting of some sort. The interesting thing is Cutter's alternate outfit is also one of these tuxes, not any of his various ensembles from Uncharted 3 - most likely proving that he is going to show up in Uncharted 4, and possibly during the mission in question. For Chloe though? We'll have to wait and see.
