10 Video Game Bosses That Probably Deserved To Win

portal2-1

After finally getting to watch Wreck-It Ralph, I started to appreciate what every video game bad guy goes through. Sure, the vast majority of them are downright evil and want to rule the world or enslave humanity, but there are a few select bosses out there that are actually rather good.

Their views may be a little skewed and their actions a tad too insane, but when you peel away their evilness and look at things from their side of the story, you begin to understand where they are coming from. I've played quite a few games where I've had to pause mid-way through a boss battle or scene and wonder what one earth I was doing. Do I really want to murder this guy out? Sure, he may have killed my family or wiped out a few hundred villages, but at the end of the day he's just a misunderstood good guy who has trouble expressing what he truly wants without mindless acts of violence. In this article, I'll be exploring some of the video games villains and bosses that I truly thought should have won.

10. General Shepherd (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2)

url-2 Although I harp on about how terrible Call of Duty is and how much I loathe it, I do seem to bring it up a lot in my more positive articles. That being said, I truly felt that Shepherd should have at least survived long enough to see his plan come to fruition. What he really wanted was for the US to become the number one super-power again and - to an extent - revenge for losing his forces in the first MW game. If we ignore the fact that he was behind the civilians deaths in Russia, the deaths of all the combatants, as well as civilians in the various countries, he does sort of come out as the good guy. His plan was to have Russia invade the US and its allies, be given control of US forces, and then defeat Makarov and his ultranationalist forces and be crowned a hero. This is pretty much what happens in the game, though he is given control and through his actions the US does manage to fight off the Russian invasion. If it weren't for Roach and his teammates, Shepherd would have continued as the leader of US forces and no one would have been the wiser. It's a pity he had to die before seeing the US triumph, but in the end he did end up trying to kill Soap and Price.
