10 Ways Rockstar Should Make Red Dead Redemption 2

10. Make This Guy John Marston

The only way to even include John Marston in a way that doesn't undo his very much redemptive and solidified arc from the first game, is to make him a completely unassuming, "forced into this life" individual. And that's if Marston is returning at all.

So far, the nearest person that would fit the bill is this young chap above, who Arthur Morgan essentially threatens to kill after having dealings with his mother. If the story in Red Dead 2 focuses on Morgan being a manifestation of criminality and what it's like to flirt with the dark underbelly of the wild west, it allows Rockstar to bolster Marston's character by showing what he finally escaped from, rather than ruining his arc through overindulgence.

Of course this has the knock-on effect of being ultimately tragic, being John doesn't actually escape in the end, but that sort of "death comes for us all"-style narrative is pure wild west fiction anyway.
