10 Ways Sony's PS4 Destroyed Microsoft's Xbox One At E3

The Dark Sorcerer

It's safe to say that few of us expected to see the next-gen gaming landscape shaken up as profoundly as it was last night during Sony's superb media briefing, which near-unanimously seemed to give them the lead in the impending console war. A series of integrity moves by the company made it clear that they were taking a stand for serious gamers, as they systematically delivered gut-punch after gut-punch to Microsoft's widely-criticised restrictions, and then even more unexpectedly, its price. So rapturously received was Sony's conference that it's easy to forget that they didn't wheel out many hugely-anticipated new franchise entries - such as, say, Uncharted 4 - but in cementing their business mindset as starkly opposed to Microsoft's, they have done themselves no end of favours in the war ahead. Here are 10 ways Sony destroyed Microsoft at E3...

10. Smaller, Sleeker Design

PS4 Many were miffed when Sony didn't show off the PS4 design at their February meeting, though this was rectified at E3, with the sleek, compact design being well-received among the gaming press. While many noted its similarity to the Xbox One design, an up-close inspection has had many stating that it's much thinner than expected, and is similar in scale to the slimline PS3. Though the weight of a console is rarely if ever anyone's factoring decision as to who to side with, the PS4 does appear to be a little less bulky, and the slanted style gives it a chic "modern art" look as opposed to the One's rather standard Blu-ray player-esque design. Of course, a console could look like garbage if it played the best games, so this will ultimately prove mostly redundant, but it's a good place to start.
