11 Facts You Never Knew About The Development Of Metal Gear Solid
3. David Hayter Didn't Know Snake Wasn't The Main Character Of MGS2
One of the biggest gaming twists the industry has ever seen came at the beginning of Metal Gear Solid 2, when it turns out that the main character isn't the protagonist of the previous games, Solid Snake, but a new Foxhound rookie named Raiden. In 2016, it's quite hard to fully express how out of left field this reveal was, but there was simply no player on Earth who expected it when popping in the disc on day one. And as it turns out, that included the voice of Solid Snake himself. Although he literally starred in the game, David Hayter apparently had no idea that Snake wasn't the main playable character. I'm not sure how he couldn't possibly know, but I wouldn't put it past Kojima keeping him in the dark, considering the how close the famed developer likes to keep his cards to his chest.
