11 Star Wars Games You Need To Play Before The Force Awakens

Your PS2/N64/GameCube/PC, it's calling to you. Just let it in.

Star Wars feels like a national holiday in itself this year. Christmas is an amazing time regardless, but now we've been given the starting instalment of a brand new Star War trilogy, the excitement has been ramped up a notch and kicked into hyperspace. Around this time of year, everyone consciously makes an effort to buy anything with the words 'Christmas' or 'festive' in the name, but you can add Star Wars to that list. Everything this December has some form of Star Wars theme attached to it (I say this as I look at my shiny new 3D stormtrooper coasters) and the movie marathons are all kicking off in preparation for the big day. We're only a few days away from seeing a new Star Wars film, and that has resulted in time grinding to a stop. How can you fill your time? Well the movies are a great idea, but why stop there? Here's a mixture of the top Star Wars games you can immerse yourself in...

11. Star Wars Episode 1: Racer (1999)

If you're a fan of racing games, put down Forza, Grand Turismo, and even Mario Kart. Dig out your old N64 and throw yourself into Racer. The Phantom Menace may go down as the most infamous blockbuster of all time, but admit it, you LOVED pod-racing. Hours of my childhood were spent designing pod-racers, unfortunately my midi-chlorians weren't high enough to successfully construct any of them. Racer is fantastic considering it's the oldest game on this list. It's 16 years since it was first launched, but you can still have just as much fun on it today. The tracks are perilous and the sheer frantic speed of the racers mean that you rarely feel 100% in control, which I'd say pretty accurately describes pod-racing.
