12 Characters That Should Return In The Next Mortal Kombat Game

2. Sareena

First making her appearance in Mortal Kombat: Mythologies as a sub-boss character, Sareena has made the transition from being an appendage to Quan Chi's body of work to becoming a character of her own despite being forgotten on a couple of occasions to be included in later instalments by the development team. Like Ashrah, Sareena is also a demon, but relied on Quan Chi's magic to retain a beautiful and human appearance. Since turning on Quan Chi for the affections of Sub-Zero, Sareena has escaped the Netherrealm and has learnt how to keep her human appearance without Quan Chi's sorcery and subsequently aligning herself with the forces of good, but wary of her true nature. Sareena received her first playable role in Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition for the Gameboy, but made a triumphant, true debut in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. Here she was developed further and strengthened her ties to the current grandmaster of the Lin Kuei, Sub-Zero. Featuring a somewhat gothic appearance with raven-black hair contrasted with a white streak and some heavy but sultry makeup, Sareena fits the scantily-clad disguised demon well. Her special moves convey some originality, with a speedy five-star kick to various parts of the opponent's body, but steps toward being generic with fiery, skull based moves. Wouldn't it be awesome for her to have the ability to shape-shift into her true self during combos or as a special move? Perhaps she could have unique abilities in her demon form, paving the way for more inspired specials. Her story has been left on a cliffhanger, with her reverting back to the forces of evil through Quan Chi's will and citing Sub-Zero as a fool for ever trusting her. Definitely a character who can weave their way through the fabric of being good and evil, a plot that could hold some merit if given the development to expand.
