It goes without saying that 2017 has been a phenomenal year for video games; one where storied franchises like Resident Evil 7 and The Legend of Zelda rediscovered their roots, newcomers Horizon Zero Dawn, Nioh and NieR all landed and began camping out for top spots on everybody's Game of the Year lists, and everything in between has at least been recommendable in some capacity.
Indeed, there's not been a bad egg among 'em, and going forward into summer, there are already a healthy number of games lined up to continue this immaculate momentum. If it keeps up, we're looking at one of the best years the industry has ever had - a far cry from the lack of quality that permeated 2014 and the majority of 2015.
The coming months will also see the first glimpses of the Xbox Scorpio (providing they don't change its name), as we see just how Microsoft are going to close out this generation after one of the most disastrous few years for their PR, possibly in the company's history.
