It just takes one glance at their key characteristics to see that they're perfectly suited to the medium. For example, zombies are mindless and stupid. Therefore, dodgy AI in which a member of the undead shuffles repeatedly into a lamp post is more forgivable. Zombies are also hugely adaptable. They can vary from traditional Romero shufflers to 28 Days Later-esque sprinting screamers.
