20 WWE Stars And Their Video Game Counterparts

Some of these guys were separated at birth, just saying.

Most WWE characters are designed in a similar fashion to the protagonists or antagonists of video games. The whole structure and concept of pro wrestling is, at its core, a good versus evil narrative in which heroes and villains with silly names - and often ridiculous size and musculature - fight one another with signature moves to resolve personal feuds. Sometimes storylines comprise complex, ongoing narrative arcs, and sometimes they involve characters levelling up and become bigger and more dynamic stars - it depends on the angle (or the game). And, of course, WWE characters are built to be larger than life in order to stand out in the company€™s highly competitive marketplace, just as the stars of video games are carefully designed and packaged to attract attention on store shelves and in screenshots. The following is a broad selection of WWE stars past, present and future and their obvious counterparts in video games over the years. Sometimes it€™s a perfect match as if they€™re separated at birth, and sometimes it€™s because of a distinctive similarity in look, or style€ and, I€™ll be honest, sometimes it€™s just because I think it€™s funny and I€™m a lot less mature than I probably should be at my age. Have fun with it, and come up with your own and paste them into the comments. 1000 Internet Points if yours are better than mine - not that we€™re measuring our heights against a wall, here.

20. Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat & Liu Kang (Mortal Kombat)

An absolute no brainer to kick off with. These perennial fan favourites could actually be twins - and, of course, both characters were more or less inspired by Bruce Lee€™s movie star persona, so that makes perfect sense. But while Steamboat may be €˜The Dragon€™, Liu Kang€™s finishing move eats Steamboat€™s flying crossbody alive: he transformed into a dragon and bit off his opponents€™ head and torso in one gulp. I understand that everyone€™s got to take their shot at getting over, but that€™s taking things too far.
