5 Difficult Shin Megami Tensei Bosses

shsus Shin Megami Tensei is the third most popular role playing franchise in Japan. Known for its difficulty, it has captured the hearts of many hardcore fans. With the rise of Persona and Devil Survivor, spin-offs of Shin Megami Tensei, and the coming release of Shin Megami Tensei IV on July 16th in North America, we look back at one of the biggest draws of the series: difficult bosses. One of the main reasons for the difficulty is that if the main character in the game dies, it is game over. Here are 5 bosses that have cemented the status of Shin Megami Tensei as one of the harder video game series in the history of the video game industry.

5. Ouroboros, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey

The Ouroboros battle is actually a two-part battle that takes place at the end of the fifth block. During the first part of the battle, this boss can regenerate its health at the end of every turn. Unless the player can exploit the boss€™ weakness to fire, the battle can stretch for long periods of time due to the inability to inflict enough damage. It also has an attack called Disaster Cycle, which inflicts a moderate amount of physical damage and can inflict a random status effect. This includes petrify, which means an instant game over if it hits the main character. The second fight features no health regeneration, but an increased use of Disaster Cycle, and a new move called Wave of Death. This move causes 300+ damage to every member of the party. Many players have cited this boss as one of the most difficult bosses in the game.
