If you have yet to try out Riot Games smash hit League of Legends, hello and welcome to the year 2012. You have clearly either contracted a severe case of amnesia or were raised by a pack of wolves. Most people today have reasonably fast internet, smartphones, and all the boy bands have finally broken up! Also there is this pretty sweet game called League of Legends.
It’s kind of a big deal. 32.5 million people worldwide have signed up to play. 11.5 million people on average play every month. Season 2 of competitive play has begun, and there is a total purse of over $5 million US dollars to be won. So why is it such a big deal?
5. There is a Champion for Everyone
Champions are the player controlled characters in League of Legends (henceforth LoL), and with over 100 to choose from and new ones being added constantly, there is a champion for every play style. Like sneaking around and ambushing enemies? There is a champ for that. Want to heal and support your allies? There is a champ for that too. Want to be an indestructible wall of magic, steel, or flesh? Yup, there is a champ for that too. And what’s more, once you find your perfect champion, you can make them play exactly how you like with the robust customization system.
