8 Reasons The Witcher 3 Will Be One Of 2015's Best Games

Delayed twice to ensure perfection, The Witcher 3 will be one of the greatest RPGs of all time.

For those who don't know: The Witcher games are RPGs based on a series of books by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. Set in a medieval fantasy world, the plot follows silver-tongued Lothario and supernaturally-powered monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia, one of the last few remaining 'Witchers' of the title. On its release in 2007, the first game was critically praised for its immersion and decision based story progression. It also gained a fair bit of notoriety for Geralt's numerous sexual encounters, and the fact that each act performed with a different partner earned you a new 'Romance Card'. The female images on these were initially censored for the game's North American release, but the Director's Cut patch returned them to their (slightly) naughty original state. 2011 welcomed the release of the Witcher's sequel; Assassins of Kings, and was regarded as not only being better than the first game, but also as one of the best RPGs ever made. With its incredible gameplay, story, graphics, immersion and mechanics, The Witcher 2 was seen as one of the few role playing games that could challenge Bioware's dominance of the genre. After several delayed release dates, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will finally hit the stores on May 19 this year. Few games have had so much hype to live up to, something that can often be a curse for AAA releases - as both Assassins Creed: Unity and Destiny can attest to. However, the developers of Witcher 3 know what's expected, and won't settle for anything less than it outperforming its predecessors and becoming one of the best games of 2015.
