There's no one else in gaming quite like Rockstar. Going from the bad boys of the industry through to one of its absolute heavyweights, their maturation period started with GTA IV and segued into the gritty L.A. Noire, but now we're at Red Dead Redemption 2, you can plot a course from that original Grand Theft Auto to here that's genuinely remarkable.

Of course, the question on everybody's lips is whether the eight year-developed Red Dead 2 holds a candle to one of the most beloved and profitable video games of all time, GTA V.

The latter took off in such a monolithic way, it's remained in the top 10 best-selling charts since 2013, housing one of the most impressive open worlds of all time and a feeling of vibrancy across its cityscape that no one else has come close to.

Red Dead 2 is that same leap between generations and tech as GTA V was to GTA III, prepping things nicely for scores of comparisons.

As will become imminently clear though, Rockstar have truly outdone themselves.
