Amid reports that Activision Blizzard is currently in the process of laying off 8% of their workforce, the company has also revealed to shareholders its plans for its biggest franchises in 2019. In between revealing that there'll be no major console or PC release from Blizzard to be expected in the next 12 months (as the company reiterated the fact that mobile will be its top priority instead), the next instalment in the Call of Duty franchise was also discussed.

Long rumoured to be Modern Warfare 4, no official titles were given but Chief Financial Officer Dennis Durkin did go into detail on how the sequel is shaping up and which modes it will ship with. Despite the last release, Black Ops IV, releasing without a regular single-player campaign, Durkin revealed that the feature will return for the upcoming title, along with the regular multiplayer suite and a co-op mode.

Discussing the game's quality and potential impact, the CFO stated:

"From day one we’ve been really excited and every time we’ve shown this title internally it just created a ton of buzz. I wish I could tell you a lot more right now, but unfortunately, you’ll have to wait, but I think it’s going to be really worth it."

CEO of Activision Blizzard also apparently chimed in after that as well, telling investors that it's one of the best Call of Duty projects he's seen the company produce yet, and that internal enthusiasm for it is at an all time high. This comes on the heels of former Infinity War employee Robert Bowling on Twitter confirming that the upcoming game will be a modern-day shooter, and categorically not Infinite Warfare 2.
