Aliens: Colonial Marines: 10 Reasons You Should Be Excited

With Prometheus failing to answer the feverish questions about the Space Jockey and plot holes regarding the Xenomorph's origin, the Alien franchise is in dire need of rescue. Thankfully Gearbox Software has the responsibility of not only creating an Aliens game, but an actual sequel to James Cameron's movie. Randy Pitchford has stated that Gearbox likes to work in other peoples spaces because they love those spaces, which reaffirms my belief that Aliens is in the right hands. Aliens: Colonial Marines feels like it's been ripped from the movie. They've even spoken with director Ridley Scott to get a better grasp on his vision of Alien. So rest assured that Gearbox Studios will develop it to be near identical to Cameron and Scott's vision while expanding upon its universe. So what exactly is his team creating which needs to be fun and innovative, yet still feels like the movie? With my list I've complied a list of reasons to answer those questions, as well as why you should be excited for Aliens: Colonial Marines.

10. Trustworthy Developers

Although I passionately love major franchises like Alien, I tend to not hold my breath if the developer in question is not known for good games. So when I heard Gearbox was the developer, I let out a sigh of relief. Gearbox is well known for its maniac shoot and loot RPG Borderlands. They've create a completely different take on a genre long since in need of revitalising, providing fresh and innovative ideas. It's this sort of passion and creativity Gearbox deserves to be credited for. But what exactly are they doing new in this certified sequel to Aliens? The team at Gearbox are huge fans of Aliens, and know full well that it's a franchise that needs to be treated with respect. As seen through the early development screenshots and present gameplay videos, Gearbox has manage to capture the authentic feel of James Cameron's vision. Created with their prior experience with First Person Shooters and a great development team, you can rest assured that Gearbox will succeed in delivering an amazing sequel with Aliens: Colonial Marines.
