Assassin's Creed 3: Boston Demo Trailer

Watch it with some commentary from Alexander Hutchinson, the Creative Director of the game....

Ubisoft has granted us another peek at the forthcoming Assassin's Creed threequel, this time in the form of a walk through Boston trailer with some commentary from Alexander Hutchinson, the Creative Director of the game. You can watch the trailer below; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92SSQBIQ07k The first thing that caught my eye with this trailer was the hay cart. Unlike my fellow What Culture writer Tom Hunt, I love jumping into hay stacks and am glad to see it's still part of the series. More importantly, the idea of having to hit a moving target and being able to use it for stealthy kills is freaking awesome! It was particularly interesting to see the stealth kill used to help out a civilian who flows seamlessly into a side quest giver whose husband needs rescue. The use of cover such as building corners and shrubbery is another nice addition to game, but the bit with the rope dart being used as a distraction was jaw droppingly bad ass! There's lots of other cool stuff in the trailer such as the new combat system, additions to the free running techniques and an outrageous use of a musket that you'll have to see for yourself. Unfortunately there's also a few things that aren't so cool. For starters, anyone who's been unenthused by the game being all about killing red coats (despite Ubisoft's statements to the contrary) won't be pleased that this trailer is all about killing nothing but red coats. Even lamer, is when creative director Alex Hutchinson states that Connor's ethnic background as half European/half Native American isn't just a cool story device, but also a way to give the player new weapons like the tomahawk and the bow and arrow... because apparently full blooded Europeans were incapable of wielding either device? Those flaws aren't enough to dampen my excitement though. I'm still champing at the bit for Assassin's Creed III and October 30th can't come fast enough.
