9. Save It For Next Gen
Doesn't a 2013 release for the next Batman game just seem a little soon, given how recently Arkham City hit our stores? I'm one for letting projects ferment and build a head of steam rather than holding developers to tight production-line schedules in which x number of titles must be churned out in x number of years (I'm looking at you, EA). Today's scoop is a little abnormal, I will grant you; Arkham City was unveiled in a major way with a teaser at the VGAs almost a year ahead of its release, which would mean that we are certainly overdue the same treatment this time. To spill it all over a conference call seems very peculiar indeed. Given how the gaming landscape is set to change dramatically in the next 12 months, would it not make sense to save Arkham 3 for the next generation of gaming? Anyone who starts developing a title for the current gen now is going to find themselves severely outgunned when the trailers for next-gen titles start debuting as early as next week, if Sony's highly anticipated press event next week turns out to be the PS4 unveiling. Of course, this
could be the strategy moving forward - Hell, an Arkham 3 teaser could debut at Sony's conference - and I certainly hope so.
