Batman: Arkham Knight - Is Jason Todd Confirmed As The Villain?

Major potential spoilers within.

Ever since fans found out the titular Arkham Knight wasn't actually referring to Batman (and instead was a 'brand new' villain created by Rocksteady Studios to better him), they've been picking apart everything possible trying to find out who's underneath the mask.

Theories range from the long-deceased Joker - who after biting the bullet in Arkham City has been fairly active post-mortem in the tie-in comics - to more 'out there' ideas like the Knight being an advanced A.I., Bruce's (supposedly dead) father, a clone, or a figment of his imagination. The latest development worth covering is the more up-close shot of Jason Todd (the Red Hood)'s action figure, where you can clearly draw some comparisons between the face armour of both his new suit, and that of the Knight.

For anyone not not up to date on their Bat-mythos, Todd was the second Robin following Dick Grayson's change into Nightwing - although he met a savage end when the Joker literally beat him to death with a crowbar. In the comics he returns to life through an overly contrived "My spirit never died"-style explanation, but the point to take away is he blames Batman or his demise, setting up one of the greatest comic runs of all time in "Under the Hood".

You want to believe Warner Bros. are keeping a tight lid on one of the greatest mysteries in gaming history, not letting an action figure ruin what's otherwise been a very fun character to read about - and story-wise it could simply be that Bruce outfits a returning Todd with some similar armour, following a raid on one of Arkham Knight's stockpiles.

However, it's far more interesting to speculate we're going to get a final showdown between Bats and the one former Robin he failed to protect.
