Brock Lesnar Revealed As WWE 2K17 Cover Star
So much for Goldberg...
Remember that Bill Goldberg advert that got so many people excited for his inevitable appearance in WWE 2K17? Well, we now know that the former star isn't actually the cover star, and that there's a reason he was seen being arrested on the outskirts of Suplex City. Because this is Brock Lesnar's town, and there's only one man for the cover.
As confirmed by Paul Heyman in a State Of The Union address conference call, the Beast Incarnate will grace the cover of the forthcoming release, and it's the right move for the developers:
"I applaud 2K Sports for putting Brock Lesnar on the cover, it's the smartest thing they can do for their merchandising, it's the smartest thing they can do for their license, it's the smartest thing they can do for their shareholders. The game comes out universally on October 11th, and on the cover will be BROCK LESNAR."
Inevitably, Heyman talked up his client's unique drawing power and ability - particularly in line with his forthcoming return to the Octagon - challenging any perception that any other sports or sports entertainment star could even hope to consider walking in both worlds AND being the cover star of such a game.
"...that is this is one of the things that Brock Lesnar discussed at length with 2K Sports when they wanted Brock Lesnar to be the star of the cover for WWE 2K17 and when the game comes out on October 11th you'll see a lot of components inside the game that demonstrate that Brock wanted his name attached to something that is unique and different and extraordinary."
Heyman also hinted that there could be both a Brock Lesnar showcase, in the tradition of releases to date and possibly also a Paul Heyman Guy mode, though details at the moment are somewhat vague, as you'd expect. If either of those are even a possibility for what Heyman calls the "greatest WWE game of all time", they'll be a good step forward.
