Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 Review - 8 Ups & 4 Downs

Another reliably slick, if familiar, FPS.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has been in players' hands for a few days now, and while certain aspects of the game are sure to be controversial with the fanbase, for the most part it's yet another reliably glossy, ferociously addictive entry into the mammoth FPS franchise.

Is Black Ops 4 going to make you feel as giddy as you did when playing Modern Warfare for the first time back in 2007? Probably not, but it manages to integrate Battle Royale gameplay into the core Call of Duty experience with impressive seamlessness, while serving up reliable multiplayer and Zombies thrills as you'd reasonably expect.

Many are hailing Black Ops 4 as the best Call of Duty game in years, and while that definitely feels a tad premature, it's certainly not the cynical offering some were expecting, especially with the one notable gameplay exclusion which has sharply divided the fanbase.

If you love Call of Duty there's no reason not to pick it up - and let's be honest, you probably already have - while those who love Battle Royale games will struggle to find a better one...
