It's 2019, Toy Story is in cinemas and Crash Team Racing is on home consoles again.

Life is good.

Sufficed to say, Beenox have done an immaculate job revamping and remaking Naughty Dog's classic kart racer from 1999. Now on PS4, Xbox One and Switch with Nitro-Kart tracks brought across and a far more in-depth roster (plus the ability to play as Nitrous Oxide for the first time), it remains to be seen whether this is the definitive version of the game, but it's certainly 99% of the way there.

Enemy A.I. has been kicked up a notch to contend with the game's 20 year-strong speedrunning scene, and across the board, visuals are genuinely stunning. Almost like what it might look like if Pixar themselves created a Crash game, environments, character animations and everything in between are polished to an insane degree.

It also goes without saying that CTR has forever been the main contender to Mario Kart's crown, though for me, it's always been the superior racer. There's a level of depth to the game's handling and speed mechanics that always offered you more over time.

Now with CTR getting a whole new lease on life, let's try to at least make sure everyone stands a chance.
