Diablo 3 To Get A Starter Edition?

Curious about Diablo 3, but don't want to drop the coin? You may be in luck.

Blizzard has accidentally leaked what was reported to be a "Starter Edition" of Diablo 3. Ars Technica posted that, sometime Tuesday night a glitch occurred allowing anyone with a Battle.net account to access and download the game. Within a few short hours of the leak occuring, Blizzard pounced on the problem and removed the installer. In addition to the removal, they shut down all of the Diablo 3 beta servers in order to provide maintenance and presumably work on a solution. My heart goes out to those that found a glimmer of hope in believing that they would be able to get their hands on the beta. Don't be too sad though, because there may be hope yet. Starter editions have already become an idea that Blizzard is supporting fully. With starter editions already available for Starcraft II and World of Warcraft, it seems almost inevitable that Blizzard will make one available to those who want to try out Diablo 3 for themselves. With the leak already revealing that there is one in the works, it seems only a matter of time before it is officially released. If we're lucky, maybe we will see the starter edition release sometime after the May 1 closing date on the Diablo 3 beta test.
