Does This Prove Red Dead 3 Will Be At PlayStation Meeting 2016?

A cryptic tweet could have the answer to this year's hottest rumour.

Look's like that Red Dead announcement could be coming a lot sooner than we all expected - providing you're willing to put your faith in an anonymous Twitter user, that is.

That's right, as yet another convention season descends upon us, ostensible industry insiders everywhere are dropping a multitude of leaks - both cryptic and otherwise - in order to set the hype machine in motion. Of course, this could all just turn out to be a baseless cacophony of emoji-filled trollish behaviour, but, at least in Red Dead's case, this particular rumour could hold some weight to it.

If the twitter handle above rings a bell, then it's for good reason. Though other outlets have been quick to dismiss this rumour as just that, a rumour, Tidux has on occasion, offered some fairly astute predictions. He preempted Fallout 4's surprise reveal at E3 2015 for one, as well as a number of firmware updates for the PS4 in the months since its release.

But does that mean Rockstar's appearance at Sony's in-house press event is a dead-cert? I guess only time will tell, but it wouldn't be out of character for Rockstar. They've been no stranger to Sony events in the past, having announced Agent at the company's 2007 E3 Conference, and again, GTA V's remaster for the PS4 and Xbox One during its 2014 successor.

Indeed, as PlayStation looks to do away with the industry's hype machine of old, securing one of its biggest players would be just the thing to make PSM a staple yearly event. Regardless, you're going to want to make sure it's on your radar - especially if Rockstar are due an appearance.

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
