Upon its release Duke Nukem 3D was one of the most popular video games ever made. Much of the success was thanks to the game's iconic anti-hero, alien-slaying protagonist, Duke. There's just something about Duke's image and personality, which is just addicting. You realize in real life he would be a terrible person, but being introduced to a story where a guy can save the world, look cool in shades, and break all the rules along the way will always touch a nerve with an audience. After twelve years in the making Duke Nukem Forever, so called "the greatest game that will ever be made" once by 3D Realms met with almost universally negative reviews.
