Many fans of the first-person shooter genre have become jaded by the annual Call of Duty releases. Each new entry can easily be viewed as a simple way for publishers and companies to cash in on the success of the mega popularity the franchise has developed. While Black Ops 2 is certainly bringing a familiar feeling to the series, it’s doing a great job of adding in some great new features.

Treyarch brought along a stage demo for the “Project P.O.T.U.S” mission. Taking place in downtown Los Angeles as it is attacked by rogue drones, you play as David Mason. The son of Alex Mason, and certainly a certified badass. Just look at the blood line.

Attempting to escort the President of the United States out of the direct danger and into the “Prom Night” shelter. As he begins to describe exactly how the plan will go, rouge drones assault the convoy, and completely devastating their vehicle. Stranded along the highway, the group recovers and Mason quickly acts to eliminate the drones with a SAM turret mounted on a nearby armored car.

What follows is our first look at the intensely futuristic warfare that will be highlighted in Black Ops 2. Treyarch shows off the first ever Jet gameplay and the Sniper Storm rifle This powerful rifle features an X-Ray scope, with five-bar gauge, that penetrates through cover. In addition, we get our first glimpse at how players will have more control during the firefights as Mason must make decisions as to what course of action is next. Black Ops 2 provides gamers with multiple options in gameplay, that will dynamically change their gameplay experience.

Enjoy Treyarch’s full stage demo for the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
