EA Sports UFC Roster: 15 Most Shocking Fighter Omissions

After the developments from UFC 173 on Saturday night, one of the fighters omitted from EA Sports UFC will need to be added, and quickly.

With over 400 of the world€™s finest fighters being signed to the UFC, it was inevitable that some names would disappointingly be left out of EA Sports forthcoming UFC game. The insane detail in which the game€™s character models are rendered would mean that the title would be far too big and take far too long to create for everyone€™s favourite fighters to be featured. Thankfully, EA have promised that select fighters will become available to purchase as DLC after the game€™s release. However, some of the omissions from the games starting roster of 99 fighters are so egregious that it is shocking that EA were able to justify leaving them out. Some fighters who have been included in the initial roster seem far less deserving of a place than those who have not made the cut. The decisions as to which fighters were included is €“ at times €“ baffling. One must also question why on earth EA chose to include the gimmick-character of Bruce Lee who never fought a single MMA bout over some legitimate title-contenders in their divisions. Granted, with the absence of Brock Lesnar from the sport, EA need to heighten the games mainstream appeal €“ however, it must be remembered that the game is supposed to cater primarily for MMA fans. After the developments from UFC 173 on Saturday night (discussed at length on the #1 entry on this list), one of the fighters omitted from EA Sports UFC will need to be added, and quickly. Here are the 15 Fighters Most Shockingly Excluded From EA Sports UFC:

15. Brendan Schaub

The UFC€™s heavyweight division isn€™t exactly known for being stacked with talent so it makes it all the more galling that a fighter like Brendan Schaub is not featured in EA Sports UFC. With a pro-MMA record of 10-3, the Ultimate Fighter Season 10 Runner-Up has shown himself to be one of the most versatile heavyweights in the whole division with extremely well-documented knockout power €“ seven of his wins coming via KO/TKO €“ and a surprisingly lethal submission game. Indeed, in his last fight where he found himself the underdog against the freakishly-strong Matt Mitrione, Schaub was able to take him down and put him to sleep in an exquisite d'arce choke. Schaub is also an uncannily gifted athlete for his large frame €“ he was a professional American football player for the Buffalo Bills before deciding to turn his hand to MMA. So who has surpassed Schaub to get that coveted place on the EA Sports UFC roster? Pat Barry (8-7 MMA) who no longer even competes in the sport for one has a place in the game. Not wanting to criticise Barry who has shown himself to be an incredibly nice guy over the years, but surely Schaub €“ who is widely considered to be a fringe top 10 heavyweight €“ should have received the nod over the Glory kickboxer?
