Hey, guess what? There are going to be new football games released over the coming months. While most of us will be looking forward to the release of big titles like FIFA 2013, PES 2013, and Football Manager 2013, there is a world of football games outside of these “big three”.
This article comprises ten football games that one might want to check out if they are burned out on the “big three”, want some fun arcade action, or just want a trip down memory lane.
(These games are just listed and are not put in any specific order of preference.)
1. NASL Soccer (Intellivision)
Ah, the game that started it all. NASL Soccer was one of the first soccer games to be released on home consoles. It also pioneered the “stadium view” that is the common place in every soccer game today. NASL Soccer was released in 1980. It came equipped with the game specific overlay and everything. The game was also released in 1982 on the Atari 2600 with better controls and “sharper graphics”.
I used to play NASL Soccer at my grandpa’s house whenever I was bored. It was an awesome feeling playing multiplayer and laying the smack down on your little siblings. While NASL Soccer might not withstand the age of time very well, I have to give it props for beginning to pioneer a genre that would become one of the best selling of all time.

You forgot the daddy of all football games, Sensible Soccer, that was awesome, still is. Also the app game New Star Soccer is damn addictive. Finally, the good old classic that is heading down to your local park with a couple of jumpers and a part deflated ball…timeless.
