FIFA 19: 11 Players Who Will Be Overrated

These 11 players will undeservedly boss the game.

FIFA 19 is almost upon us and it's high-time we get into the weeds of predictions. Player ratings is one of the most exciting aspects of each years game, and helps us understand who EA deem as the world's finest players, and those they aren't so high on.

Unless you are a fan of Real Madrid, Barcelona, or Paris Saint-Germain, you'll be familiar with ratings disappointment. Each year you'll be disappointed that your favourite player on your team isn't rated anywhere near what you think he should be.

The pendulum also swings the other way though; some of the highest-rated players in the game are only there due to reputation. You see this with the likes of Kylian Mbappé, whose rating rose 12 points from FIFA 17 to 18 - largely due to his major money transfer to PSG.

So, it's fair to say that Electronic Arts is prone to favouring some high-profile players over others. The game is filled with bizarre ratings but we've narrowed it down to the inevitable all-star overrated 11! Get your pitchforks ready!

11. Mesut Özil

Mesut Özil has been a staple of world football since bursting onto the scene at the 2010 World Cup. In almost cringe-worthy fashion, Real Madrid bought him following those breakout performances at the age of 21.

Some may forget but Özil's first two seasons at Madrid were downright incredible; he bagged 25 assists his first season and was on the Ballon d'Or shortlist the next. It was rather predictable, then, that Madrid decided to replace him with Luka Modrić - in hindsight, this was a good choice but at the time reeked of Madrid unnecessarily splurging.

The German playmaker has been a focal point of Arsenal's attack for five years now... but that's not exactly a compliment. In FIFA 18 Özil was rated 88, then Arsenal had the clubs worst ever Premier League season. Özil was a big part of an unmotivated and unimpressive Arsenal team that finally led to Arsene Wenger's resignation.

As if that weren't enough, Özil also started for the Germany team that crashed out of the 2018 World Cup in spectacular fashion. Özil is a far cry from the player he was in 2010, and should be nowhere near a 90 rating.
