The beautiful game still isn't beautiful enough

While the real-life Premier League rumbles into the final straight, virtual managers show no sign of slowing down with their campaigns. Their soon-to-be-cleared Saturday afternoon schedules will be dominated by their fantasy careers, and footballing empires will rise up from the bottom levels of domestic football. It's been a ritual since 1992 when the very first Championship Manager was unleashed on society, and since the Sports Interactive/Eidos split in 2003, the Football Manager franchise has dominated the PC gaming world, with 7 million copies sold and the 2014 edition tallying up a record 31 weeks at the top of the sales charts. It's more than just a game, it's a cultural phenomenon. Part of the success has been Sports Interactive's willingness to listen to their addicted fans and adapt the game based on what they want to see.
