What is the biggest selling video game of the year in the U.S? The answer may actually surprise you... Madden NFL 12, as popular a sporting title as Fifa 12 over here, would seem to be as good a guess as any... but no it's not that. It's not Call of Duty or L.A. Noire or Gears of War 3 either. According to an NPD chart, Ubisoft's Just Dance 2 on the Nintendo WII is the best selling video game between January and September of this year. The results were posted in Nintendo's twice yearly financial results briefing. Just Dance 2 is one of three 'bust-a-move' dance titles in the top twenty which probably shows how much females are starting to flood the video game market somewhat. According to the chart, Pokemon White on the DS came in second and you have to drop down to third before you see a title that you would have expected to see, Microsoft's Gears of War 3 for the Xbox 360. Though it clearly is the best selling title as far as games sold to adult males goes. The full top twenty chart is below (which interestingly doesn't include Portal 2 or Dead Space 2); 1. Just Dance 2 €“ Ubisoft, Wii 2. Pokemon White €“ Nintendo, DS 3. Gears of War 3 €“ Microsoft, 360 4. Pokemon Black €“ Nintendo, DS 5. Call of Duty: Black Ops €“ Activision, 360 6. Zumba Fitness: Join The Party €“ Majesco, Wii 7. Madden NFL 12 €“ Electronic Arts, 360 8. Call of Duty: Black Ops €“ Activision, PS3 9. Madden NFL 12 €“ Electronic Arts, PS3 10. New Super Mario Bros. DS €“ Nintendo, DS 11. Michael Jackson: The Experience €“ Ubisoft, Wii 12. NBA 2K11 €“ 2K Sports, 360 13. L.A. Noire €“ Rockstar, 360 14. Dance Central €“ MTV Games, 360 15. Mortal Kombat €“ Warner Bros., PS3 16. Mortal Kombat €“ Warner Bros., 360 17. Homefront €“ THQ, 360 18. Kinect Sports €“ Microsoft, 360 19. NCAA Football 12 €“ Electronic Arts, 360 20. New Super Mario Bros. Wii €“ Nintendo, Wii Xbox 360 performed the best by taking up half of the spots with 10 titles. Whether this continues for the rest of the year and into the all important Christmas season we will have to wait until early 2012 to find out.
