Say what you like about how GTA has aged and matured over the years, playing the titles themselves always feel like walking into an entirely different world of potential. In the pursuit of somehow toppling the intricate masterwork that was GTA V, you have to imagine Rockstar are erecting the biggest drawing board yet.

GTA 6 could mark Rockstar returning to how they used to release games overall, as look back to the 2000s and you'll see each new instalment dropped in quick succession. GTA III (Liberty City), Vice City and San Andreas all released within one or two years of each another, with a four year gap between that and GTA IV, and a six year gap between IV and V, presumably down to Rockstar building so much new content for an already complex game engine. This all factors into ho much work the team have presumably put into GTA 6 so far, as chances are, it's farther along in production than you think.

Thanks to the series being bigger than the sun and Rockstar rolling out continuous updates for GTA Online, it's pretty hard to believe that three whole years have now passed since GTA V first dominated the mainstream. Here are just a handful of rumours on what to expect from what will surely be the most ambitious video game of our time.

10. Full VR Integration

GTA V's first-person mode that came alongside the PS4 and Xbox One felt like Rockstar testing the waters. Yet to build any first-person games (shooter or otherwise), the fact it's the most lucrative genre around surely didn't escape their notice.

As such, a ton of work was put into crafting specific animations just for this first-person toggle, and it's a level of R&D you simply wouldn't invest in without multiple future payoffs. Expect GTA VI to ship with this first-person mode as standard, before then being playable with the likes of Oculus Rift, PS VR, Valve VIVE etc.

If you played the first-person mode, you'll know just how incredibly impactful and weirdly 'too real' doing things like attacking someone or seeing various NPC expressions up-close can be. Factor in VR to make it feel like you're LITERALLY in the game doing all manner of crimes, and we might finally give all the "Video games are the devil!" complainers something worth saying.
