What more is there to say about the hype surrounding Rockstar’s latest iteration in the wildly successful Grand Theft Auto series? The developer has kept much of the game’s features under tight wraps since it’s November 2011 reveal. There has been a teaser trailer, a handful of screens, and that’s all the company needs to build up the excitement within gamers everywhere (I get giddy just thinking about it).
Well, fellow gamers, finally some new screenshots have been released on Rockstar’s Newswire. Of course, they look fantastic (even next-gen worthy?), but the news doesn’t stop there. It would seem that, according to one of their employees that “more screens will be coming later this week”. And I bet you thought August was going to be a slow month for games journalism.
Without further ado, here are the photos:
Not a great deal of concrete information in there just yet, but there’s certainly a hint in that private registration number.
No word about a release date has been, well, released, but it goes without saying, with all the recent viral marketing linked to the game coming out recently, that something big is bound to be revealed soon. Keep your fingers crossed!
So what do you think GTA fans? Do these screenshots live up to your expectations, or do you wish Rockstar would just bite the bullet and release something more substantial? Share your thoughts below.

I sure hope that it will be released for 360, cuz I don’t wanna buy a whole new system JUST for it!
Of Course it will be released on 360 and Playstation 3. Think about it…it takes OVER 100 MILLION to make a GTA game, they have to make all this money back. If they released it next year on next gen consoles they would take MASSIVE financial losses as not everyone will have a new next gen console, hardly anyone would have one. It will be released on 360 and PS3 because many millions of people have them so they can make their money back + profit. 6 months later it will be released on PC same as always.
That was something I thought about covering here, but I totally understand. As I’m going into college very soon, I don’t want to blow some $400 on a new system just to play GTA V (though god knows I want to). I think it’s fairly safe to assume it’ll release by May next year. Whether that means a next-gen release or not is yet to be seen, though I don’t know if Rockstar would be willing to alienate that many people, especially considering 2K really, REALLY needs a great deal of money to make up for the past couple of months (GTA is a real blockbuster).
I highly doubt GTAV will be a next gen game. Not only is the wait too long (like it’s easy now, duh), but are we sure these are console screen shots? Rockstar seemed to learn about PC games with Max Payne 3, and after the disaster that was GTA4, they should have. It is possible these shots are PC and that these “amazing console graphics” aren’t console graphics. Who knows that the console versions aren’t as impressive?
But it would be worth a new system. It’s GTAV.
Look like PC gfx to me. its hard to tell as they have been resized. the anti-aliasing is usually the give away.
What people have to remember is that ‘some’ of these screens are NOT ‘In game’ screens. The trailer looked very much this gen. Look on the back of GTA Sanandreas box, the screenshots looked really good compared to the actual game on ps2, its because they werent in game screens.
The middle picture with the Cheetah car is an in game screen because ive looked at the full version and can see anti aliasing/jaggies around the car. The pictures of the plane and the bike are not in game.

they could easily be PC shots. the GFX arent that good to just be Dev Renders.
there is a chance that they will relese it for next-gen as well as current gen, they could update it for next-gen consoles.
