Rockstar Games have dismissed "nonsense" claims that the fervently anticipated Grand Theft Auto 5 has been delayed due to the upcoming emergence of next-generation consoles, according to
oxm.co.uk, the official Xbox magazine. The popular multi-title sandbox game was initially expected to be released in April this year, but has now been pushed back to
September 17th, something which has not set particularly well with the gaming community. Those who commented angrily on the Newswire piece breaking the disappointing news have been reprimanded by the publisher, warning that if abusive messages continue, "comment privileges will be suspended". A post by Rockstar read:
"Hey all, we understand many of you guys are disappointed with this news. "Unfortunately sometimes such delays are necessary in all forms of entertainment, and especially in the case of a game experience as massive and complex as GTAV. "However this does not give you free reign to be abusive in comments. "The general rules of common courtesy, decency and behavior as listed above the Comment Box still apply here, therefore anyone continuing to post abusive comments will have their privileges suspended."
The news that GTA V has been delayed until September has led many to speculate that the new Grand Theft Auto will see release on both current and next generation machines, which is why, some say, Rockstar are taking longer than initially thought to get the game out. Next generation consoles, namely the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720, are supposedly due out this winter, and Rockstar have
begun work on a next generation game engine. However, Rockstar have moved to dismiss such claims as "nonsense", instead citing that the reason for the delay is to "make the game as good as it needs to be". The post continued:
"To those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that they're all nonsense - literally the only reason we've delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be."
Rockstar North follows three main protagonists for the first time in the series' illustrious history. They are Michael, Trevor and Franklin, criminals whose stories interconnect as they complete missions together. GTA V's world is bigger than the worlds of Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto IV combined, and includes beaches, mountains and wilderness areas of terrain. The player will be free to explore the open world of San Andreas, fictional setting of the game and based on sections of modern-day California and Nevada. GTA V will also feature more vehicles than in any GTA title to date, including a huge variety of cars, trucks, bikes, helicopters, planes, ATVs and jet skis. There are also a number of side-games too such as the ability to play tennis and work out at the gym.
