Since the GTA V reveal trailer way back in November last year the rumour mill has been turning quicker than the wheel of a Lamborghini. It’s slowed in pace however, in the light of the fact that Rockstar really haven’t released any further information. Until now.
With Rockstar releasing two brand new screenshots from inside the GTA V world in a recent ‘Asked and Answered’ post (the aftermath of which we’re still currently right in the eye of) it’s started gathering momentum all over again.
Posted on WhatCulture just yesterday, these new screenshots depict a shiny, detailed and epically scaled Los Santos which you’ll most likely remember from the revered GTA: San Andreas.
If you haven’t yet seen these new shots, take a look. If you have, it surely won’t hurt your eyes to see ‘em again:
This new eye-candy has invariably dredged up further guesswork from the blogosphere once again; an article on product-reviews.net even argues that, with the new screenshots looking so stunning compared to what we remember of GTA IV that they represent high-end PC graphics rather than console.
With the level of reflection in the water in shot one and the sheer detail of Los Santos in shot two, these shots represent a level of quality that wouldn’t necessarily be out of place on the next generation of consoles.
While that’s debatable, you can’t deny that the shots are stunning. Of course Rockstar would be shooting themselves in the foot if they were even considering a release on next-gen consoles; its common knowledge that console release titles are risky business with so many inevitably holding off for the first price drop.
Who knows what’s in store for GTA V though; with Rockstar keeping tight-lipped on the subject I wouldn’t rule anything out yet.

No way, it only looks better in the smaller images. If you view the full size images they are only a little bit better IV on 360 & PS3.
Dude, you are such a derp. Those are screenshots. ofcourse if you fullsize them they wont look as good. I really shouldn’t have to explain this…
not. even. close.
as long as the overall physics of the game are better than IV, i’m good.
There is no way this is next gen! If you look at Uncharted it has graphics that look similar or better than this. Somebody needs to open their eyes and look at the screens again! lol.
Joe, I only hope you’re right! Would be a massive mistake to bring it out on next gen due to not many people having next gen, nowhere near as many sales would be made if compared to release on Xbox and ps3, and let’s face it, R*, no matter how much we love them, all they care about is profit at the end of the day…
It’d be nice to have this game on a next-gen console, but no. This has been in development for quite awhile, and I would assume Rockstar wouldn’t have the next-gen development kits back in 2008-2012, whenever work on this game started. Also, in order to sell a lot of copies fast, releasing on a console which is just now available, and in limited numbers, is incredibly ballsy and I don’t think Rockstar would take such a gamble. I’d guess This game is huge, but it’ll come on two or three DVDs for the Xbox, and one Blu-ray for PS3. Kinda sucks, but eh, it works. As long as it has Max Payne 3 graphics, i’ll be impressed.
Who writes these garbage articles? Im starting to think idiots upon idiots write this crap
No. They are very much current gen.
This is not next Gen its been in development for over five years. PlayStation give a ps4 dev kit 5 years in advance lol.
As for the graphics they will blow gta iv away due to the advancements made in motion engines textures and shading.
Please what culture stop posting poor articles and clinging to the massive amount of people entering gta v in they’re search engine there is other news you know !
POO
In my opinion its getting released this year gta will be at gamescon and i think they would release in november
ummmm skyrim?…. RDR? they all had amazing graphics…. and if i look closely at the park photo… i’d say so far, RDR has better texture quality, for trees and NPC’s, and then way off in the distance you can see it suffer rendering in the buildings, this is for sure a console screen shot of this generation. really all they had to do since RDR is create a bigger world, add more depth and side story, mess with the animations, etc.The graphics in RDR still kill games being released to this day. they haven’t created a new engine. they are using a very reliable EUPHORIA build combined with RAGE, this game is going to be the biggest RPG, GTA has ever seen. R* is spoiling its fans this time and you should be proud fans. I know i am.
They’ve already confirmed its not next-gen
No I don’t think so..
First of all the leaves on the trees are similar to GTA IV (the edges are a bit pixelated. Then, if we see closely to the front character, his texture is too faded and hasn’t so much details like Max Payne 3 and L.A Noire do. But the reflection of the water seems perfect for me.
The second picture, I’m a bit confused..
We see all the new buildings, large world, etc… But it reminds me a lot of GTA IV.
I can’t possibly imagine what next-gen quality graphics will look like.
GTA IV graphics look astounding with an HDTV.
I wrote an article speculating on what we don’t yet know about GTA V…please read!

Well let me tell ya soo I hope dis will be in da next gen consoles first of all Physics high end quality Latest version of Graphics card AMD that took the number one place recently winner award second latest version of Ram DDR that took the number one place recently winner award will hopefully those two the most expinsive and worth to get with Future tech life getting better and better for the more than 20 years would u expected are u agree.
Who cares when this game comes out! Rockstar is always so hush hush when dealing with this franchise. You’d think these guys were making nukes or something with all the secrecy!
on my ps3 gta 4 was blurry, tlad dlc worse, and tbogt much better. la noire and rdr look great on my ps3 giving hope that gta 5 will be ok on current gen consoles.
with that said i still wish for next gen for gta 5. the big problem is backward play that would make a smoother move to next gen. with backward play games could play on old and new allowing for large sales numbers while providing a superior product on the next gen consoles which then gives an incentive to purchase the next gen system.
the screen shots look current gen. the top photo is la noire qualityand the bottom looks blurry in the distance like gta 4. next gen is going to be real 1080p with pc quality frame rates and draw distance. old gen 512 meg memory, next gen 4 gig minimum.
