Halo 4: Flood of New Details Emerge Online

GameInformer subscribers treated to new details of the upcoming sequel from 343 Industries.

Pre-empting the official release of GameInformer€™s Halo 4 cover story, subscribers receiving early copies are sharing details online and it seems there€™s reason for excitement. If you followed the story on Microsoft€™s registration of haloinfinity.net you€™ll be excited to learn that Infinity is a rebranding of the multiplayer experience which includes an original multiplayer campaign with weekly updates. Developer 343 Industries have also announced that the multiplayer will have some kind of link to the main campaign, though little else has been specified. Perhaps an ME3 style shootout, where winning matches can affect the ending of the game? Many of the classic weapons are returning; the plasma pistol, carbine, sniper rifle, rocket launcher and shotgun all make appearances, but as yet there€™s no confirmation on plasma grenades. They€™ve also canned the respawn wait time and players can now choose weapons before going into battle in addition to weapon spawns on the map. As for the main campaign, 343 have stated that we€™ll begin the adventure with Master Chief waking up from stasis four years after the events of Halo 3 and Cortana detecting an intruder on board the ship. With the war all but over by the finale of Halo 3, it€™ll be interesting to see who the new enemy is. Halo€™s spartan versus covenant combat was some of the best FPS gaming ever brought to consoles, but would it hold up a fourth time? We€™d love to hear your thoughts and speculations.
