The upcoming Spider-Man PS4 title was a smash hit at E3 2016, and with veteran developers Insomniac Games at the helm, is there really any wonder why?

Although we've only seen one trailer for the game - which by the way looks stunning - it has been reported via YIBADA that Marvel have given Insomniac Games complete freedom in regards to development and story.

It was announced previously that the yet-untitled video game will be a standalone experience from the current MCU/Captain America: Civil War incarnation of the character. However, it has now been confirmed by creative director Bill Rosemann that the game's version of the titular hero will differ greatly from his teenage movie counterpart, who's currently portrayed by Civil War star Tom Holland. The upcoming game will Instead focus on a seasoned Spider-Man who is already top class at doing whatever a spider can.

In an interview with Marvel, Rosemann said: "We all learn to grow from our experiences and this Spider-Man has been fighting crime for a bit and he's mastered his abilities, which you'll experience from the very first scene."

This news is a definite relief, as audiences really don't need to endure another iteration of Uncle Ben's untimely snuffing. This time around, stepping into the skin tight suit of Peter Parker will truly make you feel like an unstoppable force rather than a rookie from Queens, and certainly a worthy adversary for any super-villains that are to crop up in the games story.

Will the story of an experienced Spider-Man stand any chance of knocking the Arkham series off the superhero video game throne? With the correct balance of acrobatic action and superior storytelling, it could be a possibility. Let us know your thoughts in the comments thread below. Happy swinging.
