Have you ever been invited to your own personal mecca? This week, I was lucky enough to be invited by Warner Bros and TT Games to LEGO HQ in Billund, Denmark ahead of the release of LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens. To say it was the stuff of fanboy dreams would be an understatement.

While there - as well as visiting LEGOLand, the LEGO Factory and the LEGO Museum (I basically frothed for the entire trip) - I got my hands on the game, for some exclusive early playtime. The single biggest thing you need to take from that experience was that I already think this could be the best LEGO game yet (and that’s based on a single play through of only 3 levels).

With that in mind, it’s my responsibility to tell you exactly why. Here are the first things you’ll notice (as I did), as soon as you get your hands on the game…

10. BB-8 Will Be Everyone’s Favourite Character (Obviously)

It goes without saying that the little ball with all the charisma should be the most charming thing about LEGO’s game adaptation.

Along with the simple pleasures of rolling around the beautifully designed, intricately detailed levels, the animations (including that adorable little thumbs up) and the vocal ticks are as perfect as they were in the film.

The droid may not be the most capable in battle (there are attacks there, but they aren’t really devastating), but the game should be experienced on rolls. And you’ll get no more joy than riding around on the back of a mouse droid.
