Marcus Fenix Is Back In 7 Minute Gears Of War 4 Campaign Footage

Old man Marcus is back, and he brought his do-rag.

Today in 'games you didn't realise were still coming in 2016', Gears of War 4 is revving its chainsaw and charging back into the public conscious, as Microsoft have dropped a sizeable seven minute chunk of campaign gameplay.

Comprising mostly of firing a thousand rounds through hordes of enemies, the coolest takeaway for any Gears fans is the first in-game return of Marcus Fenix, who we last saw in the CG trailer from E3 2016. Now though, it appears developers The Coalition aren't resigning him to voiceover or over-the-phone mentor duties, as he can be seen forming one quarter of the new, playable unit.

Sporting a do-rag for old times' sake, Fenix is once again voiced by John DiMaggio, whose iconic pipes gave away Marcus' appearance before we even lay eyes on him.

As far as gameplay's concerned, it's really just 'more Gears', but for the vast majority that'll probably be enough. Additional melee kills can be pulled off when standing opponents are dazed, and you can pull them over cover to set these up.

Other than that, thankfully this is a far more confident showing than April's incredibly tired and lacklustre-feeling beta.
