New Namco Star Trek Video Game To Tie Into J.J. Abrams Sequel

Set for release on Xbox 360 and PS3, the co-op game will be set after the events of Star Trek and lead into the story of the sequel.

Paramount and Bandai Namco are teaming for a new video game that will tie into the J.J. Abrams rebooted Star Trek universe, it was announced on Friday. Set to be released and distributed by Bandai Namco in Q1 2013, the co-op console game will simply be titled 'Star Trek' and is set in the same alternative timeline that Abrams ignited when Nero (Eric Bana) went back in time to the birth of Captain Kirk at the beginning of the 2009 movie. The game will actually be set after the events of the Star Trek film and will lead into the forthcoming and so far rather mysterious sequel, set to be released May 17th, 2013 which is currently filming. As per the press release; Players choose to play as Kirk or Spock and can collaborate with a friend. The game features an original storyline which promises to "continues the adventure of iconic characters Kirk and Spock as they work together to stop a legendary enemy race bent on conquering the galaxy." Here's some in-footage of the game that was released at last year's E3; http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=OXQsi6LaGj8 Are there any clues for what direction Abrams' sequel is going in from the footage? A few more images from the game below along and make sure you check out Trek Movie who have the press release.
