Capcom have have released a brand new trailer and given more information for the forthcoming and highly anticipated Resident Evil 6.
Firstly the release date has been moved from November 20th to October 2nd. According to executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, the decision was based on the positive fan reaction to the game’s January trailer. He said;
”The enthusiastic reception for the trailer made Capcom want to get the game into player’s hands earlier”’
It has also been revealed that the game will not be coming to Nintendo’s new console, the Wii U. Kobayashi stated;
Unfortunately, RE6 will not be available at this time on the Wii U. Right now we’re concentrating on the PlayStation 3 version, 360 version and the PC version of the game.
This shouldn’t be much of a surprise since Resident Evil 5 was never released on the Wii and it looks like the same is true for its sequel. But I’m sure Capcom will continue to support the 3DS as they did with the recently released Resident Evil: Revelations.
And finally a new trailer has been released which you can see below but beware it does contain some spoilers. A few non-spoilery bits of information I gathered from it are that the game will have the same quality script writing we expect from a Resident Evil game, “Wesker was a colossal imbecile,” VHS is still the preferred format and some of the game might be set in China.
Resident Evil 6 will offer three different stories that intertwine involving Leon.S Kennedy, Chris Redfield and Albert Wesker. Also, the Resident Evil zombies will get a makeover, they will now be more agile and some even brandish weapons.
Resident Evil 6 is Capcom’s biggest release this year and they have over 600 people working on the game. Time will show if moving the date forward to October has any impact on the games quality.
