Back in the sixth console generation, it felt like football couldn't get any sweeter. The Pro Evolution Soccer series had reached its zenith with its sixth PS2 outing, offering a football simulation that captured all the emotions of the beautiful game. Since then, graphics have progressed, engines have advanced, and, erm, diving has been introduced, but Pro Evo never quite recaptured its PS2 form. The series did a Micheal Owen - It peaked too soon and has been plagued by injury ever since, only occasionally showing glimpses of its true potential. Yet Pro Evo's form in the 2015 season gives us hope that the series is on the brink of greatness again. Then there is FIFA. FIFA is Wayne Rooney. Several years ago, it felt like the successor to the footie game throne, and has since gone on to claim it. However, there is an air of stagnation about it and a feeling that it could be something more. FIFA may be brilliant, but it rested on its laurels last season rather than marched towards legendary status.
