Pokémon Sun & Moon First Gameplay And Starters Revealed

A cute owl, a fiery kitten and a loveable seal - what more could you want?

It's taken many rumours and all sorts of teases, but we've finally got eyes on Pokémon Sun & Moon. And not only that, but the first clip released showcases a vibrant, somewhat Hawaii-esque new world named Alola.

Take a look:

Your three new starter Pokémon are Rowlet (grass/flying), Litten (fire) and Popplio (water). They might be a far cry from the likes of Squirtle, Charmander and Bulbasaur that returning 150-fans grew up with, but as a collection of loveable creatures to charge forth into a new generation alongside, they're perfect.

Gameplay-wise, Game Freak are reusing Pokémon X & Y's game engine that took the series into full 3D, complete with gorgeous worlds, rounded characters and a battle system that - thankfully - is still turn-based. Sun & Moon doesn't look markedly different based off the trailer, but considering how well X & Y went down, all eyes are on the new Pokémon themselves, rather than anything more mechanical.

Two more new creatures show up as the mascots for both Sun and Moon, although at time of writing they're yet to be given names. Look out at the close of the trailer for each game's box art, and have a guess naming them in the comments below, before the official word gets out!
