Sony’s latest PlayStation 3 update forces uses accounts to change to the Sony Entertainment Network.

Firmware update 4.10 requires PS3 users to accept new terms and conditions before the name switch over, but Vice President of Network Entertainment Eric Lempel has told gamers not to worry as the new incentive won’t change the PSN “that you know and love”.

“You’ll still play games online, still have access to the latest downloadable games and add-ons, and still experience a wide variety of movies, sports and music across PSN,” he said.

With the new update users are given an improved internet browser that better displays content, especially those that contain interactive features.

Although it sounds a small point, it is said the time function will consistently be more accurate as the console will double check the precise time every time the PlayStation connects to the internet.

Sony announced the PSN Network rebranding to Sony Entertainment Network for the PS3 and PlayStation Vita a couple of days ago. This came after the company announced losses of over £1.3 billion in the last financial quarter and the appointment of former PlayStation boss Kazuo Hirai as president of the company.
