PS4 All But Confirmed For E3 And Could It Land In October For Less Than $400?
Details on the inevitable PS4 have been fairly scarce as Sony have locked up the project from any leaks. However, as always with a project this big, little snippets will finally escape to see the light of day. However, they aren't normally from a source this credible. Speaking to El Mercurio On-Line, Vice-President of Home Entertainment Hiroshi Sakamoto said:
Sony PlayStation are getting prepared. For now, I can only say that were focused on the gaming event E3, set for this June. This announcement may be then, or possibly earlier in MaySo is that to show at E3 or are we going to be getting details before? Only those within the media blackout will know for sure. Perhaps arriving fashionably early will work in Sony's favour, not competing in an open forum with Microsoft at E3 where it is very likely the new Xbox will be announced. In more news, this time leaked form a less confirmed source, VGleaks have got their hands on a possible roadmap for the 'Orbis'* release.

If it was drawn up before June 2011, this would make this piece of information out of date. Even if I am certain that is right where it will land anyways. And in a final update that does perhaps give that last source some credibility, Games Industry International are reporting that Baird Equity Research are projecting the PS4 to launch in October for $350-$400 (£217-£248). Colin Sebastian who works for the company suggested
Given the fragile state of the console game market, we expect the E3 trade show in June will take on added significance, most likely providing the industry with the first public opportunity to examine next-generation hardwareSo it looks like E3 is going to be the big ball for all the new consoles. Unless of course Sony do get something out before hand, but I reckon that is unlikely. However, I wouldn't bet against some strategic 'leaks' between now and E3.
