Bonnie MacFarlane was a pivotal character in the first Red Dead Redemption, and though it is possible to visit the MacFarlane ranch should the player travel to New Austin, Bonnie doesn't make an appearance.

If you cast your mind back to the first Red Dead Redemption, you'll most likely recall Bonnie being single. She doesn't find love until 1913, at which point John Marston has passed away, but Red Dead Redemption 2 actually clues us in on what happened to her before the events that saw her meet Marston.

Travelling south through to Armadillo, the player will notice that the area is desolate. People have been moved on due to an outbreak of cholera, but if the player heads to the Van Horn trading outpost, they'll come across a corpse - or at least, what they think is a corpse. Should they loot it, the body will spring to life and then pass away, before handing Arthur a letter addressed to Bonnie herself.

Turns out he was trying to win her affections, only for her father to disapprove. Sound familiar?
