Skyrim: 10 Most Useful Shouts and Where to Learn Them

It’s worth getting your head around these extra spells, as utilising them effectively can turn an ugly situation into a cake walk.

It€™s easy to feel overwhelmed in a game like Skyrim. There€™s just so much of it and if you€™re not scratching your head at the whereabouts of some Daedric artefact or other, chances are you€™re wondering which abilities are going to help you get the most out of your character. If you€™re not focusing on which weapon type to specialise in, you€™re thinking about which school of magic to study, which armour to adorn yourself in or even which enchantments best befit your chosen class. Add to that the 20 + Shouts that become available throughout the game and you€™ve got yourself a pretty detailed and complex RPG system that can really work for you if you can figure it all out or work against you if you neglect certain important aspects. Shouts are the natural gifts bestowed to the Dragonborn; powerful, chargeable spells that are contained within the language of the dragons which only you and a handful others can learn. It€™s worth getting your head around these extra spells, which any player class can access, as utilising them effectively can turn an ugly situation into a cake walk. Some shouts can help you get around, others help you remain hidden. Some have multiple functions and some even have hidden functions, which can be discovered with a healthy, laterally-thinking mind and enough time on your hands to play enough. Here at WhatCulture we love writing about Skyrim as much as you love reading about it. And it€™s that time again. We€™ve got €˜Rim itch. So in order to scratch it, we thought we€™d compile our list of our ten favourite shouts so we could save you some time. Aren't we wonderful?
