SKYRIM Sales Upward of 3.4 Million in Two Days

Skyrim is "up over 600% on Oblivion's modest 490k staggered opening", and will manage to outsell Oblivion in a few weeks according to VG Charts.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has only been out three days up to this point but is already one of the fastest selling RPGs to date. In a matter of two days the game has sold over 3.4 million retail copies world wide. In other words, that number does not even include digital sales, where I would hazard to guess at least another half million to a million copies have also been sold. Skyrim is "up over 600% on Oblivion's modest 490k staggered opening", and will manage to outsell Oblivion in a few weeks according to VG Charts. The United States had 2.5 million in sales while 950,000 units where moved in EMEAA; part of the reason for the difference in sales between countries is probably due to the fact PC digital sales where not included in these figures, which would make the EMEAA units moved much higher. In addition, Skyrim has outpaced Gears of War 3 and Fifa Soccer 12 in first week sales and is staying consistent with Battlefield 3 sales "but with only 2 days sales it's selling at a faster rate". The only game that has sold better this year is of course Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. These numbers are staggering for an RPG, I never in my wildest dreams could of imagined Skyrim doing this well. Outselling it's predecessor by 600% and being the second fastest selling title of the year, is some of the best news I have heard in a long time. Maybe this will wake some companies up to the realization that first person shooters aren't the only type of games that can generate huge sales (but it probably won't). Have you bought the game yet, and if so how many hours have you sunk into the game so far? I think I have only put about twenty hours in so far, I know shameful right?
